Long-distance move from Baltimore, MD to Delray Beach, FL

SCAM!!!

Buckle up for a bumpy ride and open your wallet/purse wide if you plan on using this company. We contacted them for a move from Maryland to Florida, after receiving a quote we decided to sign the contract. We told them several times on the phone that we did not have an apartment secured for our destination and were told that it would not be a problem. First thing is that they do not have their own trucks, they rent, which is fine, but weird for a "professional" moving company. They show up 3 hours late on the day of the move out, and let us know that we may have a "little" more cubic feet than the initial estimate listed. That's understandable and usually part of the process, but little did we know that they were intentionally packing boxes 25-50% full, increasing our cubic footage for the move and also causing over a thousand dollars in damages to our property because of how loose the boxes were packed. The new estimate was over DOUBLE the initial estimate (which they lowballed and did not include everything we had listed for them). We asked them several times for a breakdown of the charges and were never given an itemized list explaining everything. After arriving to Florida and eventually finding an apartment, we called to let them know our new address and tried to schedule a move. Our apartment would not be ready for a few days, but we were told by the horrible customer service department that we would have to move in within the next 2 days or wait up to 14 business days to receive our items. They did mention that they could charge us an additional several hundred dollar fee to deliver our items when we chose to do so. We went back and forth with them and they claimed that they never knew that we would not have a destination or date when we signed the contract, despite saying in the contract that free storage is included for up to 1 month. This fee to deliver our items when we requested changed on a daily basis, doubling one day and going back to the original amount the next. Not wanting to pay the additional $200-$400 fee, and with no leeway from the company, we reluctantly started the clock on the 14 business days. They were essentially holding our property hostage for ransom. After waiting nearly the full 14 business days, they reached out to schedule the move and gave us a date, which we confirmed and thought we would be nearing the end of this nightmare. On the date of the scheduled move-in, they reached out to us around 3:00 PM to say that they would be there at 10:30 PM. 10:30 PM?!?!?!?! REALLY!?!?! What kind of professional moving company tries to do a move-in at 10:30 at night? Apart from being just plain weird, most apartment/townhome complexes have noise ordinances that prevent this type of thing. They mentioned that they would be "quick". The only other time slot that was available? The next morning at 6:30 AM. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! Not wanting to wait another 14 business days, we reluctantly accepted the 6:30 AM time slot. Another note for this company, they only accept Post Office money orders or cash for the final payment, despite accepting cash, check, and all major credit cards for the initial deposit and second payment. Postal money orders have a limit of $1000 per, so if your move is any more than that, you need to have several to complete the job, or just casually walk around with thousands of dollars in cash. We handed over the money orders, got our items in our new apartment and thought we were done with this nightmare. But unpacking our items we discovered the absolute con, poorly packed boxes and lots of damage. They also used wardrobe boxes, but just shoved all of our clothes on hangers in them, causing them all to be horribly wrinkled. No attempt by the owner to make up for any of the damages. The summary of this review is that this company is a SCAM. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. They also claim to be BBB accredited in their contract, and they are absolutely not.

Use another company.

Would not recommend these movers since it was a headache from beginning to end. I was given an arrival time of 730-830am and the movers showed up at 10. It took a total of 5 and a half hours to move my one bedroom apartment, but I think an hour or so could have been saved with all the time the guys spent standing around texting. It was raining the day I moved and they didn’t cover my furniture until they were asked to so my computer desk has water damage. Speaking of my computer desk, it was obviously dropped or mishandled in some way because it is seriously damaged now. It completely fell apart. This is a desk that was 6 months old, and is now trash (see pictures). When I contacted the owner he seemed uninterested and said he would call me back which he never did. There’s a fee of $20 per mover if they have to go up steps, and a minimum of $15 tip per mover so beware of that since I wasn’t told this upon booking. The one good thing I can say is that the movers were friendly guys but I would not use this company again.

Long-distance move from Washington DC to Maryland

Wonderful experience with dc pro movers.

Dc Pro Movers was referred to me by a friend of mine who used their service. I worked with Nicky the whole time, who was very helpful. On the actual moving day, the movers were 30 minutes late but they called me on their way to tell me about it so I wasn't upset/
The foreman Aaron was really nice- he explained the contract in detail before I signed anything. The other 2 helpers spoke little english so I didn't speak to them much. But anytime I had a question, Aaron was patient and helpful.
My move was from a 2 bedroom apartment into a 3 bedroom townhouse so it was pretty straightforward. I did most of the packing myself and the movers handled the protection for my furniture and piano.
After I had packed everything, one of the movers found a bag of (collective) coins that I forgot I had..he showed it to me and packed it afterward- I was very appreciative of his honesty.
I am moving a hot tub next month and plan to use this company again- they were friendly, honest, and easy to work it.

SCAM

I feel completely duped by DC Pro movers and shockingly so. Luna was great, very friendly and worked with me to get a reasonable hourly rate for 4 movers. The movers were polite and worked hard. My issue is with the material cost. I was informed that the movers had supplies on the truck but if I had supplies on hand they would be used. I planned on using a few boxes off the truck for TVs and mirrors, things like that so expected some material cost. I did NOT expect the $1165.00 of material costs I was hit with AFTER my items were in their truck but BEFORE they would unload into my new home. $1.00 per square foot for bubble wrap! And they used massive amounts! Never mentioning during the wrapping (much of which I said wasn't necessary but they insisted) that I was being charged per square foot. I was told "it was all in the email we sent". To their credit was, an email I got over a month ago in the midst of buying a home and moving our entire life to a whole new town. I feel as though a reminder would have been nice and I certainly should not have been required by them to wrap everything including things I specifically asked not to be wrapped. My cat condo for instance, heaven knows what that set me back to wrap, against my wishes. $18 bucks for a wardrobe box that I never asked for to wrap up a mattress pad I didn't even want to keep. Needless to say I was taken aback when I saw the nearly 1200 dollar material price tag however given all my earthly belongings were being held ransom what choice did I have but to pay it. Imagine my rage when much of my furniture was damaged! Paint scratched and peeling, cabinet knobs bent and broken etc. when confronted the response was "well that was only blanket wrapped" (the ONE thing that was included in my $145 an hour by the way). This company talks a good game on the phone but I'd look elsewhere for your moving needs, moving is stressful enough, no one deserves the extra drama we had to deal with.

My moving experience with DC Pro Movers.

I needed movers in January of 2012 and found DC Pro Movers. This is the second time I've used this company and would highly recommend them to anyone! They're prompt, courteous, and move in a timely manner. They don't work slowly to drag out the time (to ensure they get more money) and they're very careful with your belongings. Each time I moved, I had to push back the date by two days. The first time was due to snow and the second time was due to excessive rain. I worked directly with Luna Perez and she, gladly, accommodated me when I asked to move back my move dates (without a penalty or fee!). She's extremely pleasant and a joy to work with!

Moving scam by DC Pro Moving and Storage Inc.

I hired this mover through internet.  They quoted me one thing and then at the time of delivery they billed me three times the quote.  These people are crooks.  First half of the move they were moving things very slowly.  They loaded and unloaded my sofas in the truck three times just to delay time!  It was a 3 bed room town house move.  Everything was packed before and they just needed to load the boxes.  Some of the things were repackaged without our permission.  Crewmen does not understand English or pretends not to understand.  Then during unloading also they misplaced things.  It was a nightmare move for us.  We have moved several times interstate with no major problems. But this intrastate move (only about 1000 ft) was the most unprofessional service that I have experienced.  I would ask everyone to think twice before hiring this company.  DC Pro Moving and Storage Inc.  gets a big thumbs down from me.

Dishonest and will rip you off.

DO NOT USE DC Pro Moving and Storage Inc for your move…you will thank me later! This company is VERY DISHONEST and will rip you off. I originally hired DC Pro Moving and Storage Inc for my move in March of 2012. I was given an estimate for 1 Truck, 2 Men, 3/hours, $65.00 per hour = $195.00 and travel time 1/hour, $65.00 per hour. Estimate = $260.00 This was the first time I had ever used a moving company and my move entailed one bedroom, kitchen and living room. When the movers arrived they showed up with 3 men instead of two and said they could do the move for 3 men, $79.00 per hour which would make the move go faster and save me even more money. I authorized the third mover. I had already packed all of my belongings however authorized the movers to use packing materials on my two tv’s, glass side table, and glass display stand. Nothing else needed to be packed/protected or was authorized to be packed/protected. As the movers began loading my belongings, I cleaned other areas of my house so once I left along with the moving truck I wouldn’t have to come back. The movers arrived at my house at 9:15am and were done unloading the last of my belongings at my new residence by 2pm. (that time frame includes the travel time between residences.) Upon arrival at my new residence, before taking any of my belongings off the moving truck, the movers asked for payment. I did not have a problem paying ahead of time until they told me how much I owed. They gave me a bill for $1,423.00 and I was in complete shock. That was almost $1000.00 over the estimate using 3 men. After disputing the total with the foreman, he took off $84.00. The moving company would not take my belongings off their truck until after I paid, so I was left with no other option and I used my credit card. Before leaving the foreman came up to me and asked where his tip was? After the movers left, I called DC Pro Moving and Storage about the billing issue but only heard back from the company a few weeks later when I disputed the $750.00 in packing materials charge with my Credit Card Company and reported DC Pro Movers and Storage to The Better Business Bureau. Since disputing the charge with my credit card company, DC Pro Movers has applied the charge back to my credit card. I have gone back and forth with DC Pro Movers without coming to a resolution. I agreed to pay (and did pay) $585.00 of the moving cost which is $125.00 more than what 5 hours of move time plus 1 hour of travel time comes out to. In every communication I have had with this company they have been untruthful. This has been a very frustrating ordeal. Not only are they dishonest, but be prepared to clean up after their moving crew and make sure they load everything they’re supposed to. I had to load several boxes into my own car that the movers tried to leave behind. After reading my review, if you still decide to go with DC Pro Moving and Storage Inc, for your move… just know that you were warned, because they will lie to get your business and they’ll lie again when your confront them about ripping you off.

DC Pro Movers - Horrible Experience.

Not only were we quoted an hourly fee significantly below what we were told our cost would be when the movers showed up to pack and move our effects (and a storage fee when the company advertised free storage for up to 30 days), we also experienced significant damage to our property.  The move supervisor for our job, Aaron, chastised one of the employees when he brought to our attention some of the damage done to our property.  This mover was one of the team members who packed our effects and took them to the company's storage facility.  We completed our move in Aug 2011 and in Nov 2011 the owner/manager, Avi, arranged to come to our house to assess damage and proceed with repair/reimbursement accordingly (this after many calls and a run-around as to who was culpable - his movers or his friend who loaned the trucks).  It is now June 2012 and we have not heard from him again, he never showed up for the appointment.  We have a gigantic hole in our basement wall that the movers covered with stacked boxes, the headboard of our bed is cracked, we have no idea where my husband's tool box is and too many chairs have broken legs.  I would NEVER recommend this company for even the smallest movement of paper boxes let alone furniture.

International move from , DC to , TUR

Great service.

Firstly, the delivery location for my move wasn't Turkey- it was Israel- that wasn't one of the options on the drop down menu.
I contacted DC Pro Movers from an advertisement on google for my move from DC to Israel. The man, Avi came to my home and gave me an estimate of $10,500 with a 6 week delivery window. My goods arrived on time in great condition- all the way from Washington DC. The crew was nice and professional. They explained everything in great detail as they were working. The other companies I spoke to gave me much higher estimates so I was a little nervous that DC pro movers were going to rip me off but I went with my gut and chose them. i'm very happy I did. Thanks DC Pro.

Know what you're getting into.

I had never used professional movers before and was quite wary of all those I saw online, but not having a lot of money to hire a big, well-rated company, I went with DC Pro Movers because of their low price quote: $75/hr for 3 men and a truck. The salesperson Luna sent me a quote saying that for my 2BR apartment, it would probably take 5 hours, plus 1 hour of travel time for the movers to get to my apartment in the morning and leave my new townhouse after the move. I knew this was high, as we didn't have much stuff. Besides about three boxes and a couple small bags, there were only 2 couches, 1 king-size bed, 1 child's bed, a dining set, a kitchen table and chairs, 2 big chairs, a bookshelf (empty), a small table, another small table with 2 small chairs, one bike and 2 dressers. Seriously, that was it. So, I figured it wouldn't take as long as the estimate. Luna also explained that there would be a fuel charge, and there'd also be packing material costs. This last part was what scared me. Basically, all tape and plastic wrapping stuff they used I would be charged for. But their base rate was low compared to other bigger or better-rated companies, so I figured I'd risk the extra fee. The 3-man crew was perfectly courteous. They arrived at 8:25, and Benny, the leader, had me sign this and that before they got going. 2 1/2 hours later, we were at my new townhouse, a 15-minute drive from the apartment. Benny sat me down again and asked me to sign off on the bill:  5 hours of move time 1 hour of travel time $22.50 fuel charge ..and $209 in packing materials costs.  I didn't argue. I knew this was where they were going to screw me. I didn't ask them to show me the empty spools of all that they used, so I'll assume they were being honest. What wasn't honest was the 5-hour estimate. I estimated it'd take them only another 1 1/2 hours to put everything in the townhouse, and in actuality, it was even quicker than that. They were finished by a little after noon. I told Benny that the estimate was high, and I didn't think I ought to pay for the 5 hours. He said it was standard, and that after 20 years in the business, he hadn't seen moving companies change this. I asked him to call his supervisor, and he did. First, the supervisor Avi wanted to knock off a half-hour. Finally, I spoke with him, and he agreed to knock off one hour. So, the final bill:  4 hrs of work x $75 = $300 1 hr of travel time = $75 Fuel charge = $18 Packing materials = $209 3% fee for using a credit card (totally ridiculous, I know) = $9 Tip = $90 (I felt this was being generous, but considering 2 of the guys on the crew were probably illegals, I figured I ought to help them as much as possible) So, in total, around $700.  Overall, I can't complain too much. I did my best to minimize the costs. The guys were nice and they didn't damage anything at all, though they probably did their best to jack up the packing costs, and they did make me go through a bit of a rigmarole to knock off the last hour. Anyway, if you don't have a lot of money for a move, I guess DC Pro Movers isn't terrible. Just make sure you stay on top of them. .
